What is the Wainwright Pledge?
An invitation to turn inspiration into action.
Inspired by the books celebrated by the Wainwright Prize, we’re encouraging people to make one simple promise for nature, whether that’s spending more time outdoors, supporting wildlife, sharing stories, or caring for the places around them. Every pledge, no matter how small, helps build a bigger movement, proving that when thousands of individual actions come together, they can create lasting change.
How to get involved:
1. Make your pledge
Choose one simple promise for nature. It could be something you’ll do today, this season or throughout the year – big or small, every pledge matters.
2. Share it
Pick up an official pledge bookmark from a participating bookshop or library, download a digital template, make your own version, or simply share a photo or video of yourself making your pledge – however you create it, post it with #MyWainwrightPledge and tag @WainwrightPrize.
3. Inspire others
Encourage your community to join in. Nominate a friend, recommend a nature book, or invite others to make their own pledge and help the movement grow.
4. Win prizes
To celebrate everyone taking part, we’ve got an incredible range of prizes up for grabs throughout the campaign, including a sustainable holiday, book bundles, magazine subscriptions and more.
