Entering its ninth year, the James Cropper Wainwright Prize celebrates the finest nature, travel and environmental writing; in particular, works that encourage exploration of the great outdoors and nurture respect for the natural world.
Amid a climate crisis, it is vitally important to support writers who hone the talent to reconnect us with our natural roots and reinvigorate our dormant relationship with mother nature. It is easy to forget how interwoven nature and its fruits are into our lives, especially for concrete-dwellers. This year’s prize comes at a time of prolificity in nature publishing and a thriving nature writing scene, offering an abundance of skilful submissions to this year’s judging panel. We are delighted to introduce the shortlisted writers and their respective works.
