New Literary Prize for Nature & Travel Writing about Britain Launched

Publishers Frances Lincoln & The Wainwright Society, in association with The National Trust, are delighted to announce a new annual literary prize.

It seeks to reward the best writing on the general outdoors, nature and UK-based travel writing and is sponsored by Thwaites Brewery, who produce a bestselling beer called ‘Wainwright Ale’.

Andrew Dunn, Editorial Director, Frances Lincoln said: “Alfred Wainwright’s books have inspired generations of walkers, and shown countless readers a new way to see the British landscape. The unique aesthetic of the books and Wainwright’s inimitable personality place these among our greatest books about the outdoors. Since Frances Lincoln took over the publishing for Wainwright in 2003 we have revised and updated the books, celebrating 50 years in print along the way: our future publishing strategy will ensure they are enjoyed for many years to come. We are proud to announce The Wainwright Prize for UK Nature & Travel Writing, recognising new books which will become classics of nature and travel writing in their turn.”
